Black Mountain (20 minutes): The closest town on this list, Black Mountain, packs serious charm into a walkable downtown. Bryson City (90 minutes): Gateway to Great Smoky Mountains National Park. · Thomas Dambo's Trolls x a Field Study at The North Carolina Arboretum is on display now through February 17th. Visiting on their first North American excursion, these delightful interactive troll sculptures will "explore" the Arboretum, embarking on a curious journey to learn about humankind.

· Asheville Yards brings outdoor ice skating to downtown with its Holiday Ice Rink from November 26 - January 19th. Special events include live music, holiday movie screenings, and local family nights. Check their website for tickets and details!

· Christmas at The Biltmore, is always a grand affair. With decorations both inside and outside the house, it is an ornate and incredible display, sure to get you into the spirit of the season... Now through January 4th.
